The Laboratory of Wood Technology, at the University of Ghent, has acquired over 30 years of experience in fundamental and applied research on wood and maintains close contacts with the wood-processing industry. The laboratory has elaborated its research activities in wood technological fields, wood biology and wood quality in its broadest sense, i.e. including the quality at the standing tree level. The lab has become involved increasingly in research projects dealing with the variability of wood and tree properties as a function of genotype, climate, stand characteristics and pathology.
