The Department Forest Genetics/Tree Breeding of SBS is in charge of investigations on the morphology, physiology, phenology and genetics of tree species relevant for forestry in Saxony. Additionally the department is responsible for breeding programmes of several conifer and broad leaved species and is in charge of a large number of field trials, seed orchards and clone collections related to the breeding programmes.
