Metsäntutkimuslaitos (Finnish Forest Research Institute)

The Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla) is an independent, governmental research organisation. The main purpose of Metla is to promote, through research, the ecologically, economically and socially sustainable development of the forests and forestry. Metla employs about 800 people, of whom 300 are researchers. Metla has vast experience in international research cooperation, the amount of EU-funded projects currently in progress is about 15.
