Fondazione Edmund Mach
The FEM is a research foundation which continues and improves the activities of the former Istituto Agrario di S. Michele all’Adige (IASMA) and the former Centro di Ecologia Alpina (CEA). FEM is organized into three research Areas: Genomics and Crop Biology, Food Quality and Nutrition and Environment and Natural Resources. Each area consists of research programmes and is supported by technology platforms and an experimental farm.
The most important technological platforms include Functional Genomics (including accredited GMO detection in animal feeds and food), High-throughput Sequencing and Genotyping, Germoplasm maintenance and Collections of pre-breeding material, Metabolic Profiling, Stable Isotopes, Climate Modelling, GIS and Remote Sensing. A Transversal Platform in Computational Biology has been activated.
